Send a 3ds Max viewport into an AI render
A script you run from the Scripting menu, or put on a toolbar once and forget about. It grabs the active viewport, uploads it to your VotexArch workspace and opens your browser there — a photoreal still without starting a production render.
Captures the active 3ds Max viewport to a PNG, uploads it to your VotexArch workspace and opens it in your browser.
The same capture 3ds Max’s own Grab Viewport uses, driven through pymxs. Deliberately no Qt window: Max ships PySide2 up to 2024 and PySide6 from 2025, and a dialog written against one is a crash waiting on the other — so every prompt here is one of Max’s own, which behave identically on every version that has Python 3.
Getting it installed
- 01
Unzip it somewhere stable
Keep send_to_votexarch.py and votexarch_connect.py together in the same folder — the first imports the second from beside itself.
- 02
Run it
Scripting → Run Script, and pick send_to_votexarch.py. The README in the download has a short macroscript if you would rather have a toolbar button.
- 03
Save and send
Choose where the PNG goes. The first time, sign in through the browser that opens and press Yes on the dialog Max is showing; after that it is remembered.
Before you start
Newly released. This was built against Autodesk’s documented pymxs and MAXScript reference rather than tested inside a live 3ds Max install, so treat your first run as the real test — if something misbehaves, send us the text from the MAXScript Listener and we will correct it.
No 3ds Max to hand?
Every tool works by uploading an image directly — the plugin only saves you the trip.
